V!DEO 🎬, Imperialism on Trial – Eva Bartlett πŸŽ₯

Eva Bartlett, independent Canadian journalist, speaks at the public anti-war meeting ‘Imperialism on trial’ held in London on 31 Jan 2018. Eva thanks Joti Brar of the CPGB-ML for her remarks about Libya and then speaks of her first hand experience of the conflict in Syria, which she says is directly comparable, contrasting the war reports of the BBC, the Guardian and Channel 4 with her first hand experience, including talking with and interviewing civilians on the ground across Syria. Other contributions from the meeting can be seen here: Joti Brar: https://youtu.be/YFbWgd23qIE Eva Bartlett: https://youtu.be/vD05gHICMKU Chairman's comment: https://youtu.be/5tQm9RVUKjQ Q&A: https://youtu.be/A5UvYkoDtto Press TV interview with Eva Bartlett: https://youtu.be/vavCG-YAQa0 Imperialism and war: https://youtu.be/teF94iX14rA pls watch! Carefully documenting her first hand knowledge, she demonstrates the frequent media use of unverifiable or easily discredited sources, their overt use of biased terrorist / jihadi sources, manufactured and patently false film footage, and their active and conscious generation of war propaganda to suit the interest of imperialist warmongers ('neo-cons' and 'hawks' as they are euphemistically referred to). She debunks the generally prevalent narrative: The war in Syria is not a civil war. President Assad is not a brutal dictator, but a popular and democratically elected leader and head of state. The 'freedom fighters' and 'moderate rebels' (fighting against the progressive, secular and democratically elected Syrian government and its legitimate Syrian Arab Army) of whom we hear so frequently in our news media are no such thing. Rather they are imperialist-sponsored stooges and jihadi terrorists (IS, Al-Nusra, Al-Queda, etc.), funded, resourced and supported by the US, NATO, Israel, Turkey, Saudi, and the UAE. The imperialist agenda is not 'democratising Syria', (can Saudi Arabia set itself the agenda of 'democratising' any other nation until it first sets its own feudal-autocratic despotism aside?) but destabilising Syria; their aim is regime change - hence the mantra 'Assad must go!' Their ultimate goal is simply stealing the mineral resources and economic wealth of the country and the wider middle east - as was the case with the war in Iraq. Eva finishes by recounting her trip to the North of Korea, explaining how she found the DPRK to be a peaceful prosperous and normal country, whose people cherished their independence and were keen to tell Eva that they were proud to resist the ongoing aggression of US imperialism. Eva went on to address questions from the audience, and we will reproduce those in a separate video. Thanks to Mary Henning for filming and editing this video.
